SUPER 8

THE GOOD AND THE BAD

The good - it covered my basics plus a couple of perks. The room was clean, quiet and the temp control worked. The pluses were it was next door to a truckstop so lots of big rig parking and it had free Wi-Fi.

The bad - The pool was closed, the pop machine was out of order and no remote for the tube style TV … and both pillows were flat (I like a medium.)

If I hadn't been up against the clock, I would have stopped in another area of town where prices are 2/3's the price. The Tuesday night rate was $69 plus tax which was in line with what else I checked on within a few miles. On the other side of town, rooms can be found for $40.

Check-in / out were problem free (Except the first room we were give hadn't been cleaned), so I should say the help was pleasant.

There was only the motel parking lot between our room and the train tracks but I didn't hear a thing (or there was nothing to hear).

The only food within walking distance is the McDonalds next door are 'shelf food' at the truckstop, That is a big downside for me on a normal day. Tonight I was running so late it was not an issue.

Breakfast was … light. Very little. Yogurt was all I was looking for so I was good, those looking for a meal would have been disappointed. I should have double checked the wording on the 'juice machine,' I think there are laws that state how much 'juice' has to be in 'juice.' Today the apple was barely flavored water.

It covered the basics, so IF I am in the area, I'd likely be back.

DAYS INN

Short night.

6 AM flight and didn't check in until midnight, some would have just slept at the airport. But I didn't.

I was told when I called ahead that all they had left were smoking rooms. (So I checked around but this was our best match) No issues at check in/check out. No issues with the room.

This place looks like an old Holiday Inn, I have stayed in many with a similar look. The outside, stairs, elevator are all in need of an update. BUT … once inside the rooms the place is on the upper end of the Days Inn's I have stayed at.

The room was clean all around, the temp control worked … the room was pre-cooled.

… and the place is directly across from the airport with an airport shuttle. If you are traveling really light, you could walk to the front door in twice the time it takes to drive it, so if the shuttle is pulling out when you are walking up, keep walking, you'll beat the next shuttle.

BUT I am cheap, so IF I can find anywhere else for $20 less, I might try elsewhere (but not for even money).
